MERV CORNING RETROSPECTIVE

The exhibit will remain on display through September 21.


Merv Corning liked to paint buildings, especially old buildings with interesting textures and/or unusual architectural details. Pictured is “Whitehead Street” oil on canvas, 1972.


Merv Corning loved painting the back country of California, particularly around the Santa Ynez Valley. Shown is “San Marcos Range,” a watercolor painting that was his last major piece, painted in 2006.

“The 7th Street Gang” watercolor self portrait painted in 2000.

Thousands of people know Merv Corning through his famous portraits of NFL players. Shown is “Walter Payton”, a watercolor painting completed in 1981. It is one of 300 subjects commissioned by the NFL.
